Meet Stig
Stig Ahman, our Market Manager in Sweden, joined Nord Pool almost a decade ago and has more than two decades of involvement in the energy sector behind him.
“I have done almost everything there is to do in an energy market company, from trading and analysis, to managing sales and emissions, plus pretty much everything in between,” he explains. “All that valuable experience gives me a good platform for understanding the challenges that face Nord Pool customers today. I often find, in discussion with customers, that I am able to draw on that experience to bring useful solutions to the table.
“My career in the energy sector began at about the same time as Sweden’s power market was deregulated. I have been around ever since and every year I say; now is when it starts to get really interesting!”
What Stig enjoys most about dealing with Nord Pool customers is working closely with them to solve any problems they encounter. “It’s great solving challenges, together. And once in a while we can come up with a solution that a customer was not even aware was possible. That free exchange of information, problems and solutions encourages a really open attitude, where I can learn how customers think and act depending on market situations, political decisions and the many other influences that come to bear on their trading lives.
“I’m aware, for example, that right now many customers are watching developments in EU regulations with an active interest – how might choices being made many hundreds of miles away from where they operate, impact what they do?”
With broader power market competition rolling out across Europe, Stig’s focus is on helping Nord Pool’s customers to be as efficient as possible, for example through enhancing the digital side of trading, implementing current APIs and helping them develop their business according to their strategic priorities.
He sums it up by saying: “We want to make it simple and easy to trade with Nord Pool. We’re here to make our customers’ lives easier; with the ability to trade with us all over Europe.”
If you want to reach out to Stig, feel free to do so.
