The CSO’s team comprises some 15 people, responsible for developing Nord Pool’s key assets and offerings, across all markets and geographies. “We deal with corporate strategy and M&A, including partnerships and strategic growth initiatives. My team is led by product management, with five experienced product managers setting and delivering on our roadmaps,” Julien explains. He continues: “Additionally, we are responsible for Nord Pool services to third parties, including Nord Pool Consulting, which provides unrivalled expertise in designing power markets and to Nord Pool Academy, leading our best-in-class certified power market courses. We also take care of future business development and data analytics to ensure that the company’s decisions are based on solid facts and figures.” In guiding Nord Pool’s strategy and corporate development Julien and his team has many interactions with other departments. “One of the things I enjoy the most at Nord Pool is witnessing people’s expertise and passion, as well as experiencing our diversity of gender, culture and nationalities,” says the CSO. He is also driven by the company’s role in the industry and its positive impact on society. “Nord Pool benefits from a great heritage, being the pioneer in power markets, with 30 years of experience and expertise. My major focus is to ensure that we keep this leadership position in the future, and that we build key assets to answer current and future challenges in a transforming energy sector.” Over the years, Julien has built a broad range of industry expertise, business sense and pragmatic leadership, in addition to an eagerness to constantly explore new horizons and to learn. With more than 15 years’ experience in the energy sector in several positions in the exchange industry, he describes his areas of specialism as being business development, M&A and growth strategy in semi-regulated businesses. The CSO’s professional experience ranges from the former French energy exchange Powernext to major consultancies’ energy teams Pöyry, now AFRY Management Consulting and Capgemini Invent. He holds two master’s degrees, one in engineering from Ecole Nationale d’Arts et Métiers/Arts et Métiers Paristech and one in business from HEC Paris. In August 2022 Julien was appointed by the French government as a Foreign Trade Advisor to the French Embassy in Norway, a non-profit role aimed at strengthening relationships between the two countries. |
