Our ‘product’ is a transparent and reliable power price produced within our markets every hour. Nord Pool provides liquid, efficient and secure day-ahead and intraday power trading markets to our customers. We are committed to simple, straight-through trading for all customers regardless of their size or where they trade from. We are the counterparty for all trades; guaranteeing settlement and delivery.

Our markets
Nord Pool is appointed as a Nominated Electricity Market Operator (NEMO) in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Sweden.
We also provide trading platform and market coupling services to power markets in Croatia, Bulgaria and Georgia.
Consulting and competence-building
Holding unique competence in a wide spectrum of business areas, Nord Pool advises governments, power exchanges, regulators, TSOs (Transmission System Operators) and other industry experts.
As ambassadors for modern power market solutions across the world, Nord Pool Consulting offers a range of services around market design, rulebook development and regulation, power market systems and capacity building, as well as delivering seminars based on Nord Pool’s unrivalled knowledge of power market development. Nord Pool Consulting operates across the world to educate customers and other stakeholders in internal and external market development, together with Nord Pool Academy.
Sharing decades-worth of experience, Nord Pool Academy provides the highest quality knowledge-sharing and certified competence building to a global audience, through a range of tailored courses and educational services designed to improve skills and understanding of the power market. Data and services
We have established a unique Data Portal. Nord Pool’s Day-Ahead Market Data offering allows you to access Power Market Data for the Nordics, Baltics, Central and Western Europe (CWE) and the UK in real-time, plus historical information dating back to 1992.
For the Nordics, operational data is also gathered and optimised from the Nordic TSOs.
In addition, we provide access to Intraday Real-Time, Delayed and Historical Market Data for the Nordics, Baltics and CWE.
Regulation and guidelines
Nord Pool AS is licensed by the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) to organise and operate a marketplace for trading power, and by the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy to facilitate the power market with foreign countries.
We meet the Network Guidelines on Capacity Allocation and Congestion Management (CACM), which came into force on 14 August 2015.
Figures
During 2023 a total of 1103.83 TWh of power was traded through Nord Pool (made up of buy volume of 526.00 TWh and sell volume of 577.83 TWh).
The Nordic and Baltic day-ahead market traded 695.63 TWh and the UK day-ahead market 220.48 TWh, while Nord Pool’s central European day-ahead market achieved 114.17 TWh.
Total intraday trading for the year stood at 73.55 TWh, a growth of more than 95% on the previous year’s total.
