As of delivery date Monday 20 September, the full capacity of the Estlink cable will be available for the Elspot market. This is a result of Elering and Fingrid renting the rest of the capacity from the cable owners.
The current available transmission capacity allocated for the Elspot-market is 252 MW from Finland to Estonia and 262 MW from Estonia to Finland. After the new agreement the available transmission capacity will be 350 MW in both directions.
- This is very positive for the market development in the Baltic and Nordic markets. The increased capacity is one important step towards even closer integrated markets, says Karri Mäkelä, director IT of Nord Pool Spot.
