Nord Pool Spot will introduce, no later than launch of the North-Western Europe (NWE) price coupling project, new minimum and maximum price caps of €-500 and €3000, in its day-ahead market Elspot. The change is to harmonise the minimum and maximum price caps within the whole North Western Europe, covering the Nordic, Baltic, the UK and Central Western Europe. The target date for launch of NWE is 26 November for delivery 27 November. The final date for introducing new minimum and maximum price caps will be communicated in early November.
The minimum and maximum order price will be set to €-500 and €3000 in the Elspot trading system, SESAM, in order to be valid, replacing the order prices of €-200 and €2000 Elspot has today. During the planned NWE testing period, all members can carry out tests using the new minimum and maximum prices. To register and find more information about the NWE member testing click here.
Determination of the new price caps has been undertaken based on investigations of the value of lost load and statistics for historical clearing prices and average minimum and maximum prices within the whole NWE area.
The minimum and maximum price caps in NOK, SEK and DKK will be:
NOK: -4500 and 27000
SEK: -5000 and 30000
DKK: -4000 and 24000
Although Nord Pool Spot provides minimum and maximum prices in Nordic currencies in the Elspot trading system, it is important that members are aware that official minimum and maximum price caps will always be in Euros (€-500 and €3000) if reached.
