At present, Long-Term PTRs are made available to the market on the border between Germany and Denmark West. They are allocated as yearly respectively monthly products by the means of explicit auctions conducted by CASC.EU.
Long-Term Physical Transmission Rights (PTRs) are applied to enable physical deliveries over an interconnector or to hedge the risk of unforeseen spot price differences due to congestion between the bidding zones coupled by that particular interconnector.
For 2014 50 Hertz Transmission GmbH and Energinet.dk will also allocate yearly respectively monthly PTRs on the interconnector between Germany and Denmark East.
In August 2013 TenneT GmbH, 50 Hertz Transmission GmbH and Energinet.dk consulted the market on a single set of auction rules for the allocation of PTRs on the German-Danish borders and the interconnector between Denmark West and Denmark East (Great Belt cable).
Please find below the proposed single set of PTR auction rules to be applied as of 2014 on the German-Danish borders here.
Auctions for allocation of PTRs on the German-Danish border for 2014 will be held in December 2013 by CASC.EU.
Please take note that the auction rules are still to be approved by the German and Danish Energy Regulatory Authorities. Approvals are expected to be done by October 2013.
In addition Energinet.dk has initiated a regulatory approval process with the Danish Energy Regulator on allocation of yearly respectively monthly PTRs on DK West - DK East (Great Belt cable). This process can last up to six months. Energinet.dk will inform the market when more information is available on the outcome of the regulatory approval process.
If a regulatory approval is given for the allocation PTRs on DK West – DK East during the beginning of 2014 Energinet.dk intends to allocate PTRs for the remainder of 2014.
