Nord Pool Spot, Europe’s leading power exchange, is pleased to announce the launch of Nord Pool Consulting on Monday 3 November 2014. The new company will offer specialist consulting services linked to the experience built up by Nord Pool Spot in its 20 years of operating successful international power markets.
“At Nord Pool Spot we receive weekly requests to share our in-depth knowledge of running efficient and transparent power markets”, Nord Pool Spot CEO Mikael Lundin explains. “We see the establishment of Nord Pool Consulting as an efficient and effective way to manage and support the wide variety of projects connected to market design and development in which we are involved, across the world.”
The new company will be lead by Hans-Arild Bredesen who has 20 years of experience in the development of the Nordic power market, as well as with projects outside the Nordics. Bredesen was involved in developing the first market systems at Nord Pool Spot and Statnett, including the development of different trading systems for the market members in the Nordic power market.
“I am excited to start this exciting prospect of spreading Nord Pool Spot’s knowledge and expertise beyond our current markets”, Hans-Arild Bredesen states.
In the international arena, Bredesen has wide-ranging experience having participated in the development of strategies and detailed rules for trading, scheduling, and settlement systems for Power Exchanges and Transmission System Operators as far afield as California, India, Romania, Turkey, southern Africa, South-East Europe and the Single Electricity Market in Ireland, among others.
Nord Pool Consulting will focus on offering services to clients connected to market design, rulebook development and market regulation, power market systems and capacity building and will also provide seminars based on its unrivalled knowledge of Nordic, Baltic and Europe-wide power market development.
