NORDBALT
NordBalt is the new submarine cable connecting Lithuania (LT) and Sweden (SE4). The interconnector has a maximum transmission capacity of 700 MW, with a ramping restriction of 600 MW.
The Nord Pool Spot system price calculation will be based on the same model as for the other cables connecting the Nordic and Baltic countries. This means that the system price calculation will include the transmission capacity between LT and SE4.
LITPOL
LitPol is the new power HVDC interconnection between Lithuania (LT) and Poland (PLA) and will be part of the Day-ahead market from day one, while its introduction to the intraday market will happen during 2016. The interconnector has a maximum transmission capacity of 500 MW, with ramping restriction of 600 MW.
The system price calculation will be based on the same model as with the SwePol link, which means it will include the calculated flow between Poland and Lithuania. In addition, a new optimisation area, called PLA, will be introduced. Capacities between PL and PLA will represent allocation constraints, while capacities between PLA and SE4 and PLA and LT will represent cross-border capacities as given by the link capabilities.
