Nord Pool Spot, Europe’s leading power market, has today announced that it will make changes to its operating model allowing the business to better focus on both established markets and growth opportunities, while at the same time being more agile in responding to customer needs in a changing European power market.
The key changes, effective from 1 Jan 2016, are that the company will be restructured around five business units. These are: Nordic and Baltic, led by Sami Oksanen; UK and Ireland, led by Richard Sarti; Central European Markets, with Hans Randen as acting head; Serviced Markets under Lina Masiuliene; and Market Coupling Services, headed by Jan Rönnback.
Nord Pool Consulting, offering services connected to market design and development across the world, will continue to exist as a separate legal entity.
In addition, management of Market and Operations is being divided to reflect Nord Pool Spot’s continuing customer focus. Marianne W. Jenssen will lead Market Strategy and Product Development, while Marie Thuestad has been appointed Chief Operating Officer. Marie has been with the business for 10 years, most recently with responsibility for the UK market.
Mikael Lundin, CEO of Nord Pool Spot said: "The changes announced today will make Nord Pool Spot a more agile and robust organisation. Our management consists of proven leaders who will build on the outstanding work done by Nord Pool Spot over the last few years. We look forward to continue delivering excellent standards of service to our customers, both existing and new."
