Nord Pool has joined up with Nordic Innovation Accelerator, Grid.vc, Fingrid and Lahti Energia to launch an international energy innovation challenge aiming to ensure the future reliability of electrical grids in physical and flexibility markets.
Teams of forward-thinking energy innovators from across the globe have until Sunday 20 May to apply to attend the Cleantech Venture Day in Lahti, Finland, 12 – 13 June 2018. There the most promising teams will develop their ideas in a demo day and pitch them to potential investors, with some great prizes to be won.
Nicholas Sharaf, Nord Pool’s data and analytical services manager, says: “Smart technologies automatically respond to the price of electricity, timing their consumption to when the electricity price is at its lowest. As these technologies become more common, both the reliability of supply and the affordability of electricity are in jeopardy, as local grids are often not equipped to handle the strain.
“This calls for fresh ideas and offers a unique opportunity for creative minds to shape the future of the energy sector. Through our international innovation challenge, Nord Pool, Nordic Innovation Accelerator, Fingrid, Grid.vc and Lahti Energia are calling these visionaries to action; inviting them to reimagine the way electricity is used and to present their solutions for smart energy usage.”
While challenge participation in itself can open many doors to venture teams, the challenge organisers have all pitched-in to make sure the teams involved gain real value from the experience.
