Nord Pool Spot AS has received the following message from Fingrid:
The maximum net transfer capacity available for market today is 2050 MW from Sweden to Finland and 1650 MW from Finland to Sweden. The transmission capacity from Finland to Sweden depends on power balance in northern Finland. Typically during the night time when northern Finland is showing deficit and the transmission direction in Finland is from South to North, the capacity will be reduced to guarantee the secure system operation between generating units in southern Finland and southern Scandinavia.
Due to the commissioning of the biggest power unit Olkiluoto 3 in Finland and the new sea cable connection Fenno-Skan 2 at the end of 2010, the transmission capacity from Sweden to Finland will increase 500 MW and the transmission capacity from Finland to Sweden will increase 800 MW. The capacity will be confirmed later after more detailed power system analyses.
