Nord Pool Spot has received the following message from Statnett SF:
It has normally been two Elspot areas (market areas) in Norway. Due to capacity constraints and security of supply, Central Norway was established as a separate Elspot area last year.
For the same reasons Statnett will establish a separate area in Southern Norway when the subsea cable between Norway and the Netherlands comes into operation in the fourth quarter of 2007.
The new Elspot area will enter into effect during the test period planned to be in September/October 2007. New exchange information with the exact date will be published later.
The Norwegian market will then consist of four Elspot areas:
- A Southern Norway Elspot area (NO1) limited by the 300kV Øvre Vinstra-Vågåmo line, the 132 kV busbar at Litjfossen, the 132 kV busbar at Åskåra, the 300kV Lyse-Liastøl line, the 300kV Lyse-Førre line, the 300kV Arendal-Porsgrunn line, the 132kV Holtane-T-Gjerstad line and the 132 kV busbar at Brokke.
- A southwest Norway Elspot area (NO2) limited by the 300kV Lyse-Liastøl line, the 300kV Lyse-Førre line, the 300kV Arendal-Porsgrunn line, the 132kV Holtane-T-Gjerstad line and the 132 kV busbar at Brokke.
- A Central Norway Elspot area (NO3) limited by the 300kV Øvre Vinstra-Vågåmo line, the 132 kV busbar at Litjfossen, the 132 kV busbar at Åskåra, the 300kV Nea-Jerpstrømmen line, the 300 kV Tunnsjødal-Verdal line and the 300kV Tunnsjødal-Namsos line.
- A Northern Norway Elspot area (NO4) north of the area defined above.
