The Finnish Energy Authority arranged competitive bidding and confirmed the power plants selected for the peak load capacity arrangement for the period of 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2017. The arrangement covers the following power plants:
- Kanteleen Voima Oy’s power plant unit Haapavesi
- Tampereen Energiantuotanto Oy’s power plant unit Naistenlahti 1
The total volume of the power plant capacity is 289 megawatts (MW).
In addition, a load reduction agreement was signed with:
- Fortum Power and Heat Oy’s Suomenoja Heat Pump
The total volume of load reduction capacity is 10 megawatts (MW). Load reduction agreement concerns two winter periods, 1.12.2015-28.2.2016 and 1.12.2016-28.2.2017. Load reduction is activated only on Finnish regulating power market.
In accordance with the act on the peak load capacity, the power plants will be in a starting readiness of a maximum of 12 hours in the winter period of 1 December to 28 February, and in a starting readiness of a maximum of one month at other times.
Fingrid Oyj’s fully-owned subsidiary Finextra Oy administers the peak load capacity. Finextra Oy has today signed operating agreements for the above-mentioned periods.
