As the winter period begins 1 December, the units participating in the maintaining of peak load capacity will be shifted over to the starting readiness of a maximum of 12 hours. The starting readiness of a maximum of 12 hours will stand to 28 February, 2016.
The system includes following units:
- Naistenlahti 1 power plant: 129 MW (natural gas) owned by Tampereen Energiantuotanto Oy
- Haapavesi power plant: 160 MW (heavy fuel oil) owned by Kanteleen Voima Oy
- Suomenoja heat pump: 10 MW (demand response consumption unit) owned by Fortum Power and Heat Oy
After the winter period starting readiness for power plants will be maximum of one month. Demand response consumption unit participates to the peak load arrangement via balancing power market during the winter period.
For the power plants these peak load capacity agreements will be valid until 30 June 2017. For the demand response consumption unit the agreement is applied during winter periods 2015-2016 and 2016-2017.
Activation of peak load production capacity for Elspot in Finland and Sweden will be based on the activation rules equal to the winter 2011/2012. The activation rules were published in Exchange Information No. 61/2011- Activation of peak load capacity for Elspot in Finland and Sweden during winter 2011/2012.
