Yesterday, Tuesday 25 June, the Single Day-Ahead Coupling (SDAC) experienced an incident resulting in the partial decoupling of some areas. The incident saw the decoupling of the Nordic/Baltic region from SDAC, as well as a partial decoupling of the Core region (encompassing 13 countries in western and central Europe).
Key details are:
1. Partial Decoupling - Deadline (13:05 CET):
• Order books were missing from one Nominated Electricity Market Operator (NEMO) in both the Core and Nordic regions, due to issues being experienced by that NEMO.
• Following standard SDAC procedures:
- The Nordic/Baltic region was immediately decoupled from the rest of the SDAC regions and placed on hold until the issue was resolved (deadline: 20:00 CET).
- The Joint Allocation Office (JAO) operated shadow auctions for the relevant interconnectors between Nordic and Core.
- The remaining NEMOs in Core, along with other regions, reopened order books at 13:10 CET, allowing 15 minutes for members to amend orders.
- At the new gate closure time, all regions except the Nordic/Baltic re-ran the SDAC auctions without the order books of the affected NEMO.
2. Price Publication:
• Nord Pool published final prices for coupled markets in the Core region at 14:11 CET.
3. Resolution and Further Steps:
• Later, Nord Pool received confirmation from the affected NEMO that the issues impacting order submissions in the Nordic region had been resolved.
• In accordance with SDAC procedures:
- A new gate closure time for the Nordic/Baltic market of 16:20 CET was communicated.
- Nordic/Baltic order books were reopened for 20 minutes, allowing members to amend orders.
- An auction with shared order books in the Nordic/Baltic regions was re-run.
- Nord Pool published final prices for the Nordic/Baltic market at 17:45 CET.
Nord Pool order books were delivered to SDAC without issue, with standard procedures being followed. However, we acknowledge that this incident caused disruption to the market, in light of which your understanding and cooperation was greatly appreciated.
